The story takes place in Germany in 1936, the year the 11th Olympic Games were held in Berlin. George (played by Jean Paul Belmondo) is a boxing coach from France. Although he deeply despises the brutal regime of fascism, he has no choice but to compromise under the circumstances. George once served as a pilot during World War I, and amid intense combat, he befriended a German pilot named Gant (played by Frank Hoffmann). A genuine friendship formed between the two. At the Olympics, George and Gant reunite, and their friendship hasn't been tarnished by the passage of time. By chance, George and Gant encounter a Jewish boy whose tragic plight deeply moves them, prompting the two men to join forces and do whatever they can to help the boy and his family escape abroad.
