Su Chun and Guo Haiping (played by Hai Qing) have a strong marital relationship, but due to financial constraints, they cannot afford to buy a house in Jiangzhou and have to stay temporarily in an alley. Haiping tries hard to change their predicament, but struggles with the pressure of housing prices. Even after giving birth to a daughter, they have to send her back to their hometown to be raised by her parents. Haiping's sister Hai Zao (played by Li Nian) falls in love with company employee Xiao Bei (played by Wen Zhang) after graduating from university, and they also experience the difficulties of saving money to buy a house. Due to work, Hai Zao meets the mayor's secretary Song Siming (played by Zhang Jiayi), who falls for her at first sight and helps Hai Zao and her sister multiple times to escape from their difficulties. To repay him, Hai Zao engages in an affair with him, which spirals out of control.
