This series is adapted from Lauren Beukes' best-selling novel "The Shining Girls." The story follows Kirby Mazrachi (played by Elisabeth Moss), a Chicago reporter who survives a brutal attack, but as she pursues her attacker, she discovers that her reality has drastically changed. After learning that a recent murder case is similar to her own situation, Kirby teams up with troubled veteran reporter Dan Velazquez (played by Wagner Moura) to uncover the identity of the attacker. The two gradually find that these cold cases are connected, but their personal traumas and Kirby's own hazy reality allow the attacker to always be one step ahead.
