Netflix has directly ordered the anthology series *Seven Seconds*, created by Veena Sud and directed by Gavin O'Connor, set to premiere on February 23 in the U.S. The first season of *Seven Seconds*, consisting of 10 episodes, explores a hot-button issue in America: the fraught relationship between Black citizens and white police in Jersey City after the severe injury and death of a Black teenager at the hands of the police. Clare-Hope Ashitey plays K.J. Harper, an assistant prosecutor from New Jersey who takes on the case. Michael Mosley plays Joe Rinaldi, nicknamed "Fish," an experienced New Jersey detective assigned to work with prosecutor K.J. Harper. David Lyons portrays Mike Diangelo, a macho man dedicated to the New Jersey police force, who is the de facto leader of a small drug task force; Beau Knapp plays rookie Peter Jablonski, who seeks to impress his captain/father figure Mike Diangelo. Zackary Momoh plays Felix Osorio, and Patrick Murney plays Gary Wilcox; all four are part of the same drug task force. Russell Hornsby, known for *Grimm*, plays the devout Isaiah Butler, who is shocked by the events affecting his son, Brenton. Raul Castillo plays Seth Butler, Isaiah's brother, who has just returned from Afghanistan, providing support to the family. Regina King plays Latrice Butler, who is devoutly religious, frequently attending church and taking on multiple roles, including choir leader, school secretary, wife, and mother of a 15-year-old boy. After her family successfully buys a home, her core values are shaken when her son Brenton becomes embroiled in the incident; moreover, Latrice and her husband realize they are unaware of their son's true circumstances, making her angry and ultimately changing her life and relationship with her husband.
