The story begins with a red-roofed house in a quiet residential area. 18 years ago, in this house, the parents were murdered and their bodies dismembered by their own daughter, Ayako Aota, and her boyfriend, Hideyuki Ohbuchi. During the trial, Ohbuchi published "An Autobiography Too Early," confessing to having harmed young girls in the past. It was claimed in court that Ayako was manipulated by Ohbuchi into committing the brutal act, resulting in the mastermind Ohbuchi receiving the death penalty, while Ayako was sentenced to life imprisonment. A few years later, a new writer, Sana Ogura, brings a novel project inspired by the incident to Ryō Hashimoto, the editor responsible for "An Autobiography Too Early." In order to make the serialization of the novel a reality, Hashimoto and Sana conduct interviews with those connected to the case, including Reiko Ohbuchi, who married Ohbuchi in prison, and Seiko Ichikawa, Ohbuchi's former mistress and a once-prominent editor. However, the two of them soon find themselves drawn into the dark emotions of jealousy and inferiority that the involved parties harbor.
