In a bustling downtown area, a hot-tempered man (played by Kenji Matsuura) is pushed into the raging traffic and gets crushed to death. This man is the son of Chairman Teruhara (played by Renshi Ishibashi), who runs the company Flourain with ties to the underworld. Two years ago, he drove into a crowd, causing massive casualties, but escaped unscathed thanks to his father's influence. Suzuki (played by Toma Ikuta), who works at Flourain, witnesses the accident; his lover died under the wheels of the same car years ago, and while he originally intended to take revenge himself, he is now swept into an unpredictable vortex. In a nearby high-rise, a mysterious assassin named Whale (played by Tadanobu Asano), hired by Teruhara, is inciting his target to commit suicide, while a cold-blooded killer known as Cicada (Ryosuke Yamada) downstairs receives instructions from the introducer Iwanishi (Jun Murakami) to prepare to kill Whale. The death of Teruhara’s son entangles several unrelated people together, making their fates uncertain…This film is adapted from the novel of the same name by Kōtarō Isaka, published in 2004.
