The movie "Destined to Love You" is a fresh and fashionable youth romance film filled with romantic and beautiful vibes. The film is set in the undeveloped pure natural villages and wild areas of the "Tian Keng San Qiao, Fairy Cave" scenic spot in Wulong County, Chongqing, which was designated as a World Natural Heritage site in 2007. The story revolves around a group of friends living in a beautiful natural environment, where their friendships, love, and familial bonds replace the troubles and noise of the worldly life. The film aims to evoke a sense of nostalgia for human emotions, simplicity in nature, and pure love and sincerity.
The protagonist, Na Mu, lost his parents in a car accident at the age of 12 and was taken in by an uncle in the city, leaving behind the fairytale-like Fairy Village. Growing up in the metropolis, Na Mu experienced the hardships and joys of life. Eventually, in a society where counterfeit commercialism runs rampant and trust among people is fragile, he faced setbacks in his career and love life. Feeling powerless and helpless, he chose to escape, or more accurately, to return. He missed his childhood friends and the simplicity of his early life, longing to relive the fantasies of his youth, and thus embarked on a journey to find his pure roots.
In the process of returning to his hometown, Na Mu revisits his childhood dreams, re-experiences the simplicity of unpolluted nature, and rediscovers romantic and innocent love.
The film "Destined to Love You" can also be described as a new, aesthetically pleasing youth romance film. The fashionable, intellectual, and cool male protagonist Na Mu, along with the youthful and beautiful university graduate Hua Ni, the simple and lovely sister Ai Ni, and the glamorous fashion model Yao Lan, create a story set against the backdrop of nature, recognized as a World Natural Heritage site, which embodies a strongly romantic aesthetic.
To achieve an exquisite visual style akin to Japanese cinema, the film invited renowned Japanese cinematographer Katsuaki Kashiwagi for photography. Mr. Kashiwagi strives for an extreme beauty in the film’s visuals, enhancing the quality and taste of the visual effects.
The music of "Destined to Love You" adds a modern and fashionable feeling to the film. The male lead, famous Taiwanese singer Pin Guan, composed the film’s theme song "Drifting," which is refreshing, soothing, and romantic, resonating with genuine emotions and exemplifying the essence of love songs. Additionally, his classic song "Irrecoverable" and Mayday's hit "Leaving the Earth's Surface" blend seamlessly with the film’s visuals and storyline, creating an incredible harmony that provides viewers with a nostalgic MTV-like experience, adding significant depth to the film. Malaysian musician Wu Guanyan composed the film's music, his elegant and avant-garde style elevating the music taste of "Destined to Love You."
"Destined to Love You" hopes the audience walks into the cinema with ease and walks out even more relaxed.
