The story follows Komukai Riko, who works as a dispatcher in Tokyo, caught between her capable elder sister and her free-spirited younger sister, making her the average second daughter of the Komukai family. Following the death of their grandfather, the three Komukai sisters gather together for the first time in four years, leading to a family reunion. While sorting through her grandfather's belongings, Riko discovers an unfinished plastic model and encounters Yasu at the "Yajima Model Shop," a place her grandfather frequently visited. Under his guidance, she begins to try her hand at plastic modeling. Through the models, Riko gains some understanding of her grandfather and family, and decides to stay in her hometown during the summer to fulfill her grandfather's regrets.
