On a summer day in 1846, a group of over a dozen disheveled and exhausted individuals arrived on the shores of Macau. They were Shavad (played by Martini), recently appointed as the governor of Macau by the Portuguese Queen, and his entourage, having just survived a shipwreck. Suddenly, a group of masked men in black, armed with bows and knives, ruthlessly seized most of the opium they were carrying and a trunk containing the Queen's appointment documents, and then left without a word. They had encountered the infamous pirate Du Hailong (played by Wu Yijiang) in Macau. Enraged, Shavad vowed to take revenge once he assumed office. After landing, they found themselves in a Chinese fishing village, where a commotion was coming from a courtyard, and they went to investigate. That day, the village chief of Macau's Wangxia, Lin Chunfang, was celebrating his youngest son Amin's 18th birthday, with his elder son Lin Weiliang (played by Xie Junhao) and his fiancée Shui Lian (played by Qin Lan) helping to organize the festivities. It was a lively scene, and just as everyone was enjoying the celebration, Shavad's subordinate Carlos led a group of Portuguese soldiers in and aggressively demanded to search for the stolen opium and trunk, leading to a fierce confrontation. Amin rushed out to report to the Qing government official Wang Tao at the Wangxia office, seeking help, but he did not return and mysteriously vanished... This is a story that recounts the little-known, tragic events that took place in Macau in 1849.
