Baron Pierre de Coubertin, the founder of the modern Olympic movement, wrote a letter to Li Hongzhang in the 21st year of the Guangxu era, persuading the Qing government of China to participate in the first World Games (International Sports Games). The story begins with this legend, revolving around a general who is devoted to serving the country yet is secretly reassigned away from the battlefield, a scholar full of knowledge who encounters the abolition of the imperial examination, a widow from the bridge who has been honored for her chastity, and a royal princess who has studied abroad with a head full of anti-traditional ideas. These various characters, each with different backgrounds and personalities, tell the story of how they mistakenly enter China's earliest sports team. Yang Tianqiao, who survives by selling fake foreign antiques from the bridge, serves as a solid support for these warriors. They break through the numerous obstacles set by the Qing government and set out for the World Games with high hopes, only to discover that the event has already concluded. This play not only showcases the clash between modern sports spirit and traditional Chinese culture but also displays the patriotic enthusiasm of a group of young people in the late Qing dynasty and their pursuit of a better life and love.
