The title "The Thorn of Death" is taken from the biography of Corinthians in the Bible, meaning sin. Writer Toshio (played by Katsube Kazunori) and Miho (played by Matsuzaka Keiko) find their ten-year marriage in crisis. Toshio has taken a lover, and his wife hires someone to investigate this, causing her great mental distress, leading her to threaten suicide. Out of guilt towards his wife, Toshio decisively leaves his lover, determined to regain the happy times with his wife and children. However, things do not go as planned; Miho develops schizophrenia due to overwhelming stress, losing faith in her husband, constantly suspicious and pressing him, making it difficult for Toshio to maintain his last personal space. Toshio knows that all of this is the bitter fruit of his own actions and understands that Miho's abnormal behavior stems from immense pain and sorrow, so he endures even when it becomes unbearable.
