In Beijing's Little Tail Alley lives the carefree and kind-hearted '80s generation Zhao Xiaowu (played by Dai Lele) and her timid, cowardly, and "underappreciated" toy designer husband Guan Jian (played by Tong Yue) from the '70s. As a "DINK" couple, they have decided not to have children, yet they aren't living as freely as they thought: Guan Jian's family's large house left by his father overseas is spacious, but his workplace isn't doing well, and Xiaowu, with high expectations yet lacking skills, struggles to find a satisfying job. If it weren't for their relative, nanny Hua Jie (played by Wu Yuhua), caring for them, one can only imagine how they would manage their daily lives. Guan Jian's childhood friend Qin Dake (played by Xin Peng) and Xiaowu's best friend Lu Ning (played by Liu Min) become lovers after meeting and enjoy a much more comfortable life than them. During the summer vacation, Xiaowu's sister Xiaochen (played by Yan Ni) brings her son Dong Xing (played by Dong Bowen) to their home. This child, whom Xiaochen claims to be the most well-behaved in the world, is actually a mischievous rascal with a high IQ who loves pranks. Within days of arriving at Xiaowu's home, he becomes known as the "Three-Legged Cat," leading a group of children with varying personalities—Benbo Ba (played by Zhang Xiaoyu), Little Goldfish (played by Wang Liang), Gao Chubing (played by Zhai Bingyan), and Chuchu (played by Ni Hao)—to perform various amusing antics in Little Tail Alley every day. However, the knowledgeable robot (played by Yin Zeyuan) does not respect him and often comes up with tricks to embarrass him. Of course, aside from Dong Xing, Qin Dake, Lu Ning, Grandpa Guan (played by Wu Minghong), Hua Jie, and the parents of the robot who consider themselves elite are also part of the joyful life of Guan Jian and Zhao Xiaowu, unfolding concurrently.
