During the Republic of China period, warlords fought fiercely, and banditry was rampant. Lin Dingbang, a wealthy young man, investigates the truth behind his family's destruction and discovers that it was the work of his childhood friend Ma Haotian's father colluding with bandits. Seeking revenge, Lin Dingbang completely severs ties with Ma Haotian. Years later, when they meet again, Ma Haotian has become the Chief of the Shenyang Police Bureau, while Lin Dingbang has secretly joined the Communist Party of China and is one of the leaders of the Northeast Provincial Committee. On September 18, 1931, the Japanese invasion of China occurs, leading to the occupation of the three northeastern provinces. Ma Haotian betrays his country and stands on the opposite side of the nation and the people. Faced with national enmity and family grievances, Lin Dingbang, under the leadership of the Communist Party, raises an anti-Japanese armed force and engages in a long and arduous struggle against Ma Haotian. The two are in fierce opposition, openly and secretly competing against each other.
