The story takes place at the end of the Qing Dynasty, where Yunxiang (played by Huo Siyan) and the actor Wenliangyu (played by Chen Jianfeng) daringly elope. Just as they escape, chaos erupts in the capital, and they are separated by the rioters. Yunxiang is saved by her enemy Fang Tianyu (played by Yan Kuan), while Liangyu mingles in the capital, and despite being so close, they cannot meet.
