In 1933, the Nationalist Party's 400,000 troops besieged the Central Soviet Area, putting it in imminent danger. Ling Changfeng, the commander of the Independent Regiment of the Red Army's Third Army Corps, was appointed as the Party representative at the munitions factory, leading his men to work overtime to produce the ammunition needed to thwart the enemy's "Wolf Fang" plan. Unexpectedly, the ammunition was sabotaged by the spy Zhong Shaocai, who was ambushed inside the munitions factory. Ling Changfeng had to take an alternative route and used a "borrowed arrows with straw boats" strategy to retrieve ammunition from the enemy. The spy leader Zhou Jianbai planned to launch a surprise attack on the munitions factory. To keep Ling from guessing his true intentions, he pretended to be open while secretly conducting sabotage actions in the Soviet Area. Ling Changfeng countered decisively, infiltrating enemy lines and dismantling five communication stations of the White Army. When Zhou Jianbai saw that his rear was in flames and he couldn't attend to both ends, he had no choice but to retreat, causing his plan to raid the munitions factory to fail. To further crush the enemy's conspiracy to encircle the Soviet Area, Ling Changfeng, along with technical personnel from the munitions factory, began developing powerful explosives. Unbeknownst to them, Fang Shengkai, a military industrial expert who had been incited by the Central Special Agency from Nanchang, was also a spy intentionally placed in the munitions factory by the enemy. During the development process, he consistently obstructed their efforts, but ultimately, Fang was moved by Ling Changfeng's noble character and righteousness. At a critical moment, he switched sides, leading to the successful development of the powerful explosives, laying a solid foundation for our army to break through the enemy encirclement. Zhou Jianbai ordered Zhong Shaocai to destroy the powerful explosives at all costs. While carrying out her mission, Zhong Shaocai was captured by Ling Changfeng, who lamented her flower-like age and could not bear to see her turn to dust. Zhong Shaocai struggled between remaining loyal to her beliefs and indulging her emotions, ultimately choosing the right path by passing false information to Zhou Jianbai. When Zhou Jianbai discovered he had been deceived, he was furious and led his troops in pursuit. At Motianling, they encountered Ling Changfeng's unit, which was laying explosives to cover the Red Army's major breakout. In the battle, Zhong Shaocai pressed the detonator, transforming from a pupa to a butterfly, completing a beautiful metamorphosis. She used her blood and life to sound the celebratory gunfire in advance for the Central Soviet Area's final victory in this counter-encirclement campaign... Zhou Jianbai committed suicide, while Ling Changfeng led his troops on the path of withdrawal southward...
