The story takes place in the early Ming Dynasty, where Yuan Xiaotian (played by Huang Shaoqi) and Song Lingxiao's daughter, Yin He (played by Ruan Danning), are in love and about to get married. The eldest disciple, Yi Shuihan (played by Gao Shuguang), envies Yuan Xiaotian's fortune and colludes with Yunfei (played by Jiani) and others like Han Lin'er, who aim to restore the Ming Dynasty, to find the four missing pieces of the Qilin jade, hoping to replace Song Lingxiao as the sect leader. Yi Shuihan schemes, causing Yuan Xiaotian's family to bear the unjust accusation of colluding with foreign tribes to rebel, resulting in the death of Yuan Xiaotian's parents and his imprisonment in a deep dungeon.
