In the coal city of Huaihai, a train speeds towards a group of children playing on the tracks, unaware of the impending danger. Seeing this, Qiao Xiaolong's father shouts and rushes to save them. The children are saved, but Xiao Long forever loses his father. Wu Huaisheng's mother adopts Xiao Long. From then on, Wu Huaisheng, Kong Dajun, Liu Guoliang, and Qiao Xiaolong become good friends, more like brothers than actual siblings.
