The story takes place at the end of the Sui Dynasty, where the open and covert struggle between General Jiang Chengfeng (played by Wang Ruilin) and his political rival Shi Tao (played by Wang Gang) has reached a boiling point. Shi Tao threatens his adopted son Shi Jingtian (played by Shao Feng), demanding that he provide protection for him. Shi Jingtian's true identity is the biological son of the Stone Monk (played by Jin Chaokun). In a chance encounter, Shi Jingtian meets his adoptive sister A She (played by Yang Lijing), and the two fall in love.
