Han Shan (played by Yang Tongshu) and Gao Yifei (played by Wang Tonghui) have been married for many years, and together they raise their lovely child, Xiaocao. Though there have been some bumps along the way, they are generally a model of a happy life. Gao Yifei runs an appliance store, but business has not been good recently. However, he does not share the true economic situation of the store with Han Shan and chooses to bet all his chips on a major business deal in the future. If this deal succeeds, he will not only be able to pay off all his debts but also bring in a substantial income for the family. But then, an accident occurs. Due to a mistake while loading goods, the ship carrying a large shipment of appliances, along with Gao Yifei, sinks to the bottom of the sea. Although Gao Yifei miraculously survives, he no longer has the courage to return home and face his family. He chooses to live under an assumed identity and leave his hometown.
