The story takes place at the end of the Ming Dynasty, where General Qi Jiguang and Minister Qi Jiyu join forces to form the Qi Family Army, delivering a severe blow to the pirates daring to invade their territory. The pirate leader, Oshima Masakatsu, colludes with the eunuch Tong Dabaos (played by Yu Chenghui) to frame Qi Jiyu, leading to the disbandment of the Qi Family Army and the extermination of the Qi family. As the last descendant of the Qi family, Qi Shaozheng (played by Wu Jing) is forced to embark on a journey of escape. The abbot of Shaolin Temple, Zhi Yi (played by Wang Jue), takes Qi Shaozheng as his disciple. When Tong Dabaos learns of Qi Shaozheng's whereabouts, he sets fire to Shaolin, resulting in Zhi Yi sacrificing his life to protect Qi Shaozheng. Afterward, Qi Shaozheng, armed with Zhi Yi's blood-written letter, goes to South Shaolin to seek refuge with Abbot Yuan Zhao (played by Xu Xiangdong), and he meets various companions such as Xiao Ni (played by Fati Mai Yaqi), Hong Lian, and Hua Zi. This group of passionate young people plans to rebuild the Qi Family Army with their own strength.
