At the auction of the Ding Tai Chun Qiu, antique dealer Huang Lide (played by Li Youbin) points out that an imperial kilns heavy object, which the city museum intends to collect, is a forgery by Zhu Fan (a counterfeit made by Zhu Boqin). This act shames Curator Tong, who subsequently takes his own life by jumping into a river. Tong's apprentice Zheng Yan (played by Xing Jiadong) vows to avenge his master and take care of Master Tong's daughter, Tong Liyin (played by Si Guangmin), for the rest of his life. In search of the forger Zhu Xueqin, Zheng Yan visits Huang Lide's home for advice, where he unexpectedly encounters Huang Yijiang (played by Song Jia). It turns out that they had crossed paths at the antique market over a Tang Sancai piece, neither willing to back down. To pursue Zheng Yan, Yijiang makes a point of joining him as a colleague at the Antiques Auction Company. However, at the Antiques Auction, the porcelain vase collected by Zheng Yan is proven to be Zhu Fan's forgery once again, resulting in heavy losses for the company and forcing Zheng Yan to leave Antiques.
