Unlucky man Fu Gen discovers a corpse on the roadside and goes to the police station to report it and assist with the investigation, only to find himself becoming the main suspect in a murder case. The nitpicking detective won't let go of any detail, forcing Fu Gen to continuously recall even the trivial matters that happened that night. As the long night drags on, the investigation continues, but various unexpected absurd happenings unfold at the station. Will the detective be able to glimpse the truth? French absurdist comedy genius Quentin Dupieux strikes again after works like "Rubber," this time teaming up with Belgian actor Benoît Poelvoorde to play with narrative perspectives, subverting audience expectations of the genre, and creating a stream-of-consciousness black comedy. Surreal elements continually invade the story's space in the film, and before confusion sets in, humorous and ironic dialogues punctuate the narrative. In this confined space, the actors' performances spark dynamic interactions, making it impossible to guess the final trick up its sleeve until the very last moment of the film.
