The 25-year-old sister Jiang Nan (played by Zhang Yezi) and her 22-year-old brother Jiang Bei (played by Zhang Yishan) have grown up, but their parents have divorced. The two apartments, one upstairs and one downstairs, have been split in two. Jiang Nan lives with their mother Wu Qiong (played by Wang Lin) in the upstairs apartment, while Jiang Bei lives with their father Jiang Guoli (played by Zhou Xiaobin) in the downstairs apartment. Soon, 50-year-old Jiang Guoli marries 35-year-old fitness instructor Dai Lingling (played by Song Ning), who brings an 8-year-old child Tong Tong (played by Peng Yibo) with her. Meanwhile, 49-year-old Wu Qiong marries her long-time idol, actor Du Wei (played by Gao Yalin), who also has a 12-year-old daughter Yang Yang (played by Guo Xinru). The four children give their parents plenty to worry about. From the children's perspective, their parents are overly controlling, adding to their troubles. The plot revolves around these two blended families, featuring representative parents and four distinctly different children. Originally unrelated, these groups of people come together to form a large family, with conflicts and worries arising between parents and children, as well as among the children themselves. This fragmented family gradually moves towards integration as they address their troubles and conflicts, portraying a series of complex and fascinating stories of daily life and emotional worlds.
