Time: Early Republic of China Location: Ancient Town of Southern Yunnan — Lin'an (Jianshui) During the Republic of China era, due to the weakening national power, Western capitalist powers cast covetous eyes on China's abundant mineral resources. After they completed the Yunnan-Vietnam Railway, they flooded into the ancient town of Lin'an in southwestern China like a tide. This treasure land, rich in mineral resources and beautiful local customs, became prosperous in no time. At this time, the owner of the Zhu Family Garden, known as the "Grand View Garden of Southern Yunnan," Zhu Zhenting, a wealthy businessman from Southern Yunnan, was facing severe crises and on the brink of bankruptcy. This largest mining company in Southern Yunnan had its precious resources coveted by various foreign powers. The wealthy girl from Vietnam, Li Yaxiang, was well-born and beautiful. With her dream of a beautiful love, she took her personal servant, the Chinese woman Shen Wanting, and traveled by train from Hanoi to Lin'an to meet her childhood friend, the son of the governor of Lin'an — Li Bowen, whom she had secretly loved for a long time. Her servant Shen Wanting also possessed extraordinary grace, exuding a calmness and generosity surpassing Li Yaxiang. During this trip to Lin'an, aside from reluctantly serving as Li Yaxiang's maid for various reasons, Shen Wanting also privately sought to find her biological mother and explore the mystery of her own origins. Li Bowen, having returned from overseas studies, was a top student in the mining and metallurgy field. He was determined to use his knowledge to contribute to the economic development of his hometown, Lin'an, a treasure land with the world's largest tin reserves. Facing numerous difficulties, he ran tirelessly between various mining areas in Lin'an, conducting diligent exploration and research in smelting. Just as the train carrying Li Yaxiang and Shen Wanting arrived at Lin'an Station, the lively and mischievous Yi girl, Pu Huamei, mischievously went to the train station with fellow clansmen, disrupting the station and causing Li Bowen to miss meeting Li Yaxiang. In the chaos, Shen Wanting accidentally wandered into the mysterious Yi village. In the Yi village, Shen Wanting's unfortunate background resonated with Pu Huamei, and the two became sworn sisters. When Li Bowen learned that Li Yaxiang's servant Shen Wanting was in danger, he went to rescue her at Yanzi Cave but ended up causing a rift with Li Yaxiang. Li Bowen inadvertently discovered that Shen Wanting was actually the daughter of the famous overseas Chinese mining and metallurgy expert Shen Ping, which excited him greatly. He decided to travel to Southeast Asia to seek out the esteemed Shen Ping, hoping to gain guidance from him to realize his dreams of benefiting the people of Lin'an as soon as possible. Lin'an's governor Li Shaotang became suspicious of Shen Wanting's presence. To hide a major conspiracy from the past, he abused his power to issue a citywide manhunt for Shen Wanting. Li Bowen risked his life to protect Shen Wanting, but this only aroused her wariness and misunderstandings. The Japanese businessman Yoshida, aiming to profit for the Oriental Bamboo Mountain Co., conspired with governor Li Shaotang and secretly undermined Zhu's Mining Company, gradually pushing it to the brink. Just when their valuable mineral resources were about to be seized by the foreigners, Li Bowen stepped forward, boldly promising to repay the loan within three days. However, he was still young and impulsive, and coupled with interference from his father Li Shaotang, he was unable to fulfill his promise. Fortunately, Zhu Zhenting, with foresight, had prepared for Li Bowen's failure by mortgaging the Zhu family residence, known as the "Grand View Garden of Southern Yunnan," to secure the family's mineral resources from foreign seizure. Ashamed, Li Bowen resolved to fully support the Zhu family mining company and revitalize Lin'an's economy. While evading capture, Shen Wanting suddenly received an urgent letter sent by her father Shen Ping through the Thai businessman Kun, informing her that her father was gravely ill. Distressed, she learned that the railway had been washed out by a mudslide. Pu Huamei led the Yi horse caravan to rush Shen Wanting to Thailand through the night. On the way, Shen Wanting and Pu Huamei unexpectedly encountered Li Bowen, who was on a mission to find Shen Ping in Southeast Asia to revive Lin'an's mining industry. Li Bowen shared his thoughts on searching for the elder Shen Ping and completing experimental research with Shen Wanting. As she recalled her experiences in Lin'an, Shen Wanting couldn't help but admire this ambitious and diligent young man. The pair journeyed through countless trials, developing a beautiful love along the way. By the romantic Mekong River, they made promises to each other. When Shen Wanting arrived in Thailand with Li Bowen's company, her father Shen Ping had already passed away, leaving them both filled with regret. Kun informed Wanting that her father Shen Ping had served as a mining engineer for the Zhu family in Lin'an twenty years ago. At that time, the Zhu family had been granted the "Tin Seal" by Emperor Qianlong of the Qing Dynasty and had been famous for its tin mining business. They were prosperous, financially supporting various ethnic minorities and thriving in trade that reached Vietnam, Laos, Cambodia, Singapore, Hong Kong, and even gained fame in Europe. However, during that time, a strange fire suddenly struck the Zhu family, resulting in the death of Wanting's mother. Shen Ping had rescued Wanting from the fire but faced suspicion of arson, leading him to flee with Wanting to Southeast Asia. At that time, Yi clan leader Pu Youren had coincidentally appeared at the fire scene, leading to misunderstandings from the Zhu family and the people of Lin'an. What surprised Wanting even more was that she learned from Kun that she was actually the daughter of Zhu Zhenting, the reputed "Tin King of Southern Yunnan," and that Shen Ping was merely her adoptive father; her real name should be Zhu Wanting. To avoid affecting her education, Shen Ping had entrusted Kun to keep this secret all these years. With Kun's assistance, Wanting decided to honor her adoptive father Shen Ping's wishes and return to the Zhu family to reclaim her heritage. Li Bowen, for the greater plan of Lin'an's economic development, temporarily parted with his beloved to seek funds with the Li family in Vietnam. Upon learning of the Li family's parents' desire for him to marry Li Yaxiang, he abandoned the funds from the Li company and returned to Lin'an. Wanting returned to the Zhu family to reunite with her family in the sprawling Zhu Family Garden, a grand estate of hundreds of acres filled with intricate courtyards and beautifully decorated rooms. At this point, the Zhu family was at a dead end. Unable to repay the loans, the estate was on the verge of being sealed off, and shareholders were visiting the Zhu family to demand the return of their shares. Helpless, Zhu Zhenting had to pawn off the family's fabric shop, bank, and restaurant to keep the Zhu family's mines and residence. When Li Bowen returned to Lin'an, he was manipulated by his father Li Shaotang, causing Zhu Zhenting to succumb to his illness. This left Wanting heartbroken. Zhu Zhenting, filled with guilt and resentment, passed away, repeatedly instructing Wanting not to mine the Zhu family's main ore vein until their smelting technology reached international advanced levels. A series of unexpected events led Zhu Wanting to believe that Li Bowen and his father Li Shaotang were in cahoots to trap the Zhu family. The relationship between Zhu Wanting and Li Bowen fell to an icy low. Disaster did not come alone; under the scheming of Li Shaotang and Yoshida, the Zhu family estate was sealed off, forcing Wanting to lead her simple-minded brother Yongchang and the old steward He Shan away from the Zhu family in despair. Pu Huamei appeared on the mountain road and took Zhu Wanting, Zhu Yongchang, and He Shan back to the Yi village. After many twists and turns, Li Bowen and Zhu Wanting finally cleared up their misunderstandings, and their feelings began to revive. French engineer Paul, who met Wanting on the train to Lin'an, became infatuated with her and pursued her relentlessly. Yoshida, aiming to seize the Zhu family's mining resources, bought the sealed Zhu family estate and gifted it to Paul, conditioning that Paul facilitate his cooperation with the Zhu family in mining development. Paul presented the estate to Zhu Wanting and promised to treat Zhu Yongchang's illness, on the condition that he marry her. Wanting, for the sake of the Zhu family's legacy and her sick brother Yongchang, decided to marry Paul. At that moment, far away in Hong Kong, Li Bowen received unanimous praise at an academic seminar and absorbed many advanced experiences from foreign peers, regaining his confidence. When he returned to Lin'an joyously, he learned of Wanting's impending marriage to Paul, and he rushed to the church without a second thought. At the last moment in the church, Wanting resolutely ran out to find Li Bowen, promising to repay Paul’s money in full afterward. Aunt Yalo invited Pu Huamei, Li Bowen, and Li Yaxiang to celebrate the festival together at the Hani village. During the long street banquet, the strong-willed Pu Huamei competed with Li Yaxiang, tying a flower waist belt around Li Bowen. Li Bowen learned from Aunt Yalo that when an Yi girl likes a boy, she would tie her embroidered flower waist belt around him, committing her life to him. If the boy did not marry her, the girl would have to jump off a cliff to avoid offending the mountain spirit. Pu Huamei initially thought she didn't have to take this Yi custom too seriously; however, Pu Youren insisted that as the Yi clan leader, his daughter Pu Huamei must adhere to Yi customs. The kind-hearted Li Bowen found himself in a difficult position, and his relationship with Wanting faced a major setback once more. Thai businessman Kun brought Shen Ping's belongings to Lin'an for Zhu Wanting. Unexpectedly, these belongings were the results of many years of Shen Ping's research on tin smelting. Wanting believed in the hardworking and persistent Li Bowen's ability to rescue Lin'an's mining from its predicament, and she unhesitantly handed over all the valuable materials left by her adoptive father to him. At that moment, Li Bowen's friend and aide Bi Tianhong imparted the new ideas he had gained from the national defense movement to him. He told Li Bowen that to realize his ambitions and ideals, he must focus on industry to save the country. This new democratic revolutionary thought greatly inspired Li Bowen and the entire mining area. After careful consideration, Li Bowen agreed to marry Pu Huamei. Li Yaxiang was heartbroken and committed suicide by jumping into the river, only to be saved by the Thai businessman Kun. Kun, who was Li Yaxiang's classmate since childhood, finally found his emotional counterpart, and they became a couple. The headstrong and straightforward Pu Huamei resolutely jumped off a cliff, but at a critical moment, she was rescued by Zhu Yongchang, the Zhu family's young master, who had become foolish due to a fire in his childhood but was now well again. Zhu Yongchang declared his love for Pu Huamei, deeply touching her heart. They discovered that they were meant to be together. The two lovers finally became a couple, and the villagers in the Yi village celebrated for a day and a night. Zhu Wanting inherited her father's legacy and rebuilt the Zhu family mining company, working with Li Bowen to save Lin'an's mining economic development. Having achieved the production of small batches of qualified tin ingots, the Zhu family mining company finally received its first order for tin ingots. However, foreign forces blocked transport routes, leaving them at a loss. Yi clan leader Pu Youren resolutely sent Yi horse caravans to the Zhu Mining Company to complete the transport of tin ingots. Finally, with the help of Zhu Wanting and Li Bowen, along with the support of many ethnic brothers and sisters like the Yi and Hani, they successfully completed the mass production of qualified tin ingots through experiments and equipment modifications. Lin'an's mining was about to emerge from the low point, and the idea of saving the country through industry took deep root in their hearts. At this time, just as the Zhu family mining company and the entire Lin'an economy were flourishing, the old steward He Shan revealed his true colors, intending to use despicable measures to seize the mining resources of the Zhu family company. Li Bowen saw through He Shan's scheme and defended the mining resources of Lin'an and his holy and beautiful love with his precious life. The Hengduan Mountains silently wept The Red River quietly flowed Li Shaotang and Yoshida were moved by Li Bowen's actions and had sudden realizations. Li Shaotang was dismissed from his governor's position and had all his assets confiscated. The Japanese Yoshida long repented for his sinful soul. The high-quality tin from Lin'an gained strong competitiveness in the international market, promoting the economic development of Lin'an and even the entire China, allowing the Chinese nation to hold their heads high. Zhu Wanting held Li Bowen's portrait and held a special wedding... Zhu Wanting, Zhu Yongchang, Pu Huamei, and various ethnic brothers and sisters, along with friends from overseas, tightly united together, continuously striving for noble ideals and the establishment of a happy and fulfilling home...
