Hou Sanshou (Guo Tao) and Huang Ruicheng (Ren Chengwei) are both native Wenzhou residents. One specializes in clothing, while the other focuses on shoemaking, and they each manage their respective businesses with great success. Hou Sanshou is clever and articulate, traits that the honest and diligent Huang Ruicheng lacks. As a result, Huang Ruicheng repeatedly proposes that they join forces to expand their businesses, but the arrogant Hou Sanshou looks down on the down-to-earth Huang Ruicheng and ignores his suggestions.
The arrival of the financial crisis deals a severe blow to the reckless Hou Sanshou, plunging him into bankruptcy.
