Mitsu (portrayed by Haru), a clerk at an ophthalmology clinic, encounters Ryota (portrayed by Masahiro Higashide), a patient, and over time, they gradually come together. Although Ryota is quiet and reserved by nature, he is very gentle towards Mitsu and her family, providing her with a sense of security and warmth. However, despite this, Mitsu cannot forget her middle school crush, Hikaru Ariyama (portrayed by Nobuyuki Suzuki); in her heart, Hikaru is the one she truly loves. Surprisingly, Mitsu unexpectedly reunites with Hikaru, but by this time, she has already become Ryota's wife, while Hikaru is married to a woman named Rihua (portrayed by Lisa Nakajima), who is also pregnant with his child. Unable to suppress their feelings, the two ultimately betray their marriages, and to hide this illicit affair, Mitsu has no choice but to tell Ryota lie after lie.
