"The Betrayal of Family" is adapted from the novel of the same name by Sadie Jones. This novel is Sadie Jones's debut work and received widespread acclaim upon its release, winning numerous awards in the literary world and selling the rights in 21 countries. It has sold over a million copies in the UK and the US and has topped the bestseller lists of the New York Times and The Times. The BBC miniseries adaptation is written by Sadie Jones herself, achieving a perfect transition from the novel to the screen. From a young age, Lewis's father fought on the battlefield while he grew up with his mother. When Lewis was seven, his father returned from the war, and the family was reunited, but Lewis's mother tragically drowned during a picnic. Shortly after, his father remarried a younger woman, and Lewis never overcame the shadow of his mother's departure even into adulthood. He became rebellious, self-destructive, and even broke the law, with his lonely heart remaining cold. Amidst his struggles, Lewis searches for the meaning of life. @Hyperay
