At the Tokyo Pegasus Bookstore's Kichijoji branch, the assistant manager, Riko Nishigata (played by Izumi Inamori), possesses outstanding leadership skills. For years, the staff has relied on her immensely, with all matters big and small decided by Riko. Unconsciously, the employees have become accustomed to this orderly work routine that doesn’t require them to express individuality, until one day, the arrival of a new staff member changes the atmosphere at the Kichijoji branch. The newcomer, Aki Kitamura (played by Mayu Watanabe), is a genuine rich second-generation with no worries about food. She has an unparalleled passion for books, and her status and personality as a young lady lead her to introduce many of her ideas into the workplace, resulting in clashes with Riko. After a series of events, they seem to come to understand each other’s true intentions, but the life and struggles of the bookstore girl are just beginning... This film is adapted from the original work by Kei Ayano.
