14-year-old Aya Ikeuchi (played by Erika Sawajiri) lives in an ordinary family of six, and her excellent academic performance makes her a role model for her younger siblings. After entering high school, her health seems to deteriorate as she begins to lose her balance and often falls to the ground. When her mother takes her to the hospital for an examination, they discover that she has an incurable disease called spinocerebellar ataxia. Her life undergoes a monumental change.
