Based on Matt Ruff's 2016 fantasy/horror novel of the same name, the story is set during the Jim Crow era of the 1950s and follows African American protagonist Atticus Black, his friend Letitia, and his uncle George as they embark on a road trip across America to find Atticus's missing father. They must overcome the oppression of white supremacy while battling evil forces.
