Ben Whishaw, Russell Tovey, and Alan Cumming star in the BBC Four-developed LGBT-themed series "Queers," which has only one season consisting of 8 episodes, each featuring a monologue. The series is directed by Mark Gatiss, the writer of "Sherlock," and is currently in production in the UK. Due to the collaboration between the BBC and the Old Vic Theatre, all eight episodes, with each monologue lasting 15 minutes, will be performed first on the stage in July before airing on television. The monologues are written by eight authors, including Gatiss, showcasing the lives and experiences of gay individuals in British history over the past 100 years. Ben Whishaw will appear as a soldier returning from the trenches of World War I in the episode "The Man on the Platform"; Russell Tovey plays a gay actor from the 1980s in "More Anger"; and Alan Cumming features in "Something Borrowed," a reflection on gay marriage. Finn Whitehead, the star of "Dunkirk," will also appear in other episodes. The series will premiere this summer.
