This series is adapted from the nonfiction novel by Lisa Belkin. The protagonist of the story, Nick Wasicsko (Oscar Isaac), is the mayor of Yonkers, New York, and the youngest mayor in American history. A federal court orders him to build a certain number of affordable housing units for low-income individuals within a predominantly white community, forcing him to confront intense racial tensions.
