Harry (Kathy Bates) is a sharp and capable lawyer, but due to her astonishing temper, she gets fired by her boss. Afterwards, Harry meets a young man named Malcolm (Aml Ameen), who is facing a charge. With Harry's help, Malcolm clears his name, and he is so impressed by Harry's defense skills that he offers to work for her. Thus, Harry and Malcolm rent a small shoe store as their office and start their law firm. By chance, Harry meets legal prodigy Adam (Nathan Corddry), who also joins her team.
