Tongxin Pharmaceuticals is a highly influential private enterprise in Dan City. The company's leaders, siblings Tong Xin and Tong Gang, have worked for many years to develop a new cancer drug primarily made from traditional Chinese herbs, which has gained significant attention from relevant national authorities and has begun entering the critical stage of clinical trials. However, someone is secretly plotting against this new drug: Xiao Zhen Nan, the owner of Chenyu Pharmaceuticals. He attempts to obtain the formula for the Tong family’s new drug to sell it to a foreign mafia-style conglomerate, hoping to escape his impending bankruptcy. At the beginning of the story, he has already paid a substantial amount to a person named Si Jun to go undercover, but due to Tong's strict management, Si Jun, despite being highly valued, ultimately exposes himself and dies. Under pressure from the mafia conglomerate abroad, Xiao Zhen Nan has no choice but to let his daughter Xiao Ruoyu, who just graduated from a prestigious medical school, infiltrate Tongxin Pharmaceuticals as a corporate spy. However, after several setbacks, Xiao Ruoyu cannot enter the company through normal channels. Xiao Zhen Nan then meticulously designs a "chance encounter," making Xiao Ruoyu become Tong Gang's life-saver. Xiao Zhen Nan is originally a pharmacologist, and with the data provided by Si Jun, he can fully piece together the entire formula. Although no one knows that Xiao Ruoyu is a corporate spy (not even Xiao Ruoyu herself), the security director of the research institute, Guan Miao Miao, notices some clues. Guan Miao Miao is a close friend of Tong Xin and has always had feelings for Tong Gang, so she does her best to investigate the backgrounds of the Xiao father and daughter. She also uses Zhao Yan, Xiao Ruoyu’s old classmate who is infatuated with her, to create a situation that tries to persuade Xiao Ruoyu to give up. However, due to Xiao Zhen Nan's cunning and well-laid plans, he repeatedly helps Xiao Ruoyu turn danger into safety. Guan Miao Miao does not give up; on one hand, she confuses Xiao Zhen Nan with various false signs, and on the other hand, she sends her former boyfriend Zhou Qiang to infiltrate Xiao Zhen Nan's company as an undercover agent to thoroughly investigate him. Feeling threatened, Xiao Zhen Nan exploits a past mistake made by Guan Miao Miao in her youth, attempting to bribe her and turn her into his spy; however, Guan Miao Miao remains unmoved and instead turns the tables on him, nearly revealing his true nature in front of Tong Xin. Left with no choice, Xiao Zhen Nan resorts to a trump card, using Zhou Qiang as a pawn to frame Guan Miao Miao, forcing her to take her own life to prove her innocence. With obstacles removed, but the mafia has issued strict orders, Xiao Zhen Nan no longer has time to carry out his original plan, so he decides to confront Xiao Ruoyu and let her directly steal the new drug formula. However, Xiao Zhen Nan and Xiao Ruoyu never thought that after Guan Miao Miao’s tragic death, Tong Xin had already become highly vigilant against them. To test the truth and persuade Tong Gang (who has developed deeper feelings for Xiao Ruoyu), she joins forces with Zhou Qiang to conduct a meticulous investigation and decides to trap Xiao Ruoyu into taking the bait. Xiao Ruoyu indeed acts and seizes the opportunity to download the new drug formula from Tong Gang's computer. Tong Gang (who is being watched by Tong Xin) witnesses this and feels as though lightning has struck him. Yet to everyone's (including Xiao Zhen Nan and the Tong siblings) surprise, after an internal struggle (Tong Gang's genuine feelings make it hard for her to betray him), Xiao Ruoyu does not hand over the disk to her father.
