In 1944, Northeast Jilin. The anti-Japanese armed group led by the gun king Na Wuchang strikes fear into the enemy. The party organization sends Qiao Daliang to partner with Na Wuchang to form an independent regiment of the Northeast Anti-Japanese United Army. Qiao Daliang's task is to recruit Na Wuchang into the Communist Party and transform his troops into a revolutionary force. However, due to differing ideologies, the two often clash violently.
