Hua Hong (played by Liu Tao) is a highly talented winemaker. In a gambling game, she is used as a stake and loses to Tian Shugen, her adoptive father. Tian Shugen's brother, Tian Shucai (played by Ji Ta), marries Hua Hong in place of his brother. On their wedding night, however, bandit leader Chen Sanpao (played by Nie Yuan) and his henchmen raid the Tian family, stealing Hua Hong to become their captive wife. Hua Hong's wine wins an international gold medal, bringing fame and fortune to the Tian family's winery. Although Hua Hong enjoys great success, she also attracts the envy and schemes of others. With her intelligence, she overcomes various challenges. As war begins, the Japanese army's iron hoofs break the tranquility of the small town.
