The story of The Age of Steel begins in the spring of 1948. After the liberation of Anshan Steel, Shang Tielong (played by Chen Baoguo) and Yang Shoushan (played by Feng Yuanzheng) led their respective teams in a technical competition. Japanese engineer Kadai (played by Matsumine Riri) developed a keen interest in Shang during her work.
