Acorn TV, in collaboration with Channel 5, produces the crime drama "Dalgliesh," starring Bertie Carvel from "Doctor Foster" as the titular character. The first season consists of 6 episodes, with 2 episodes per story, set to begin production in Northern Ireland in December. The series is created by an all-female team and is adapted from P. D. James's (See image 2) series of novels "Inspector Dalgliesh Mysteries," tracing Dalgliesh's career in crime fighting from 1970s England to the present, with each story focusing on him solving an unusual murder case set in different locations with various guest characters. The first season includes three stories adapted from: "Shroud for a Nightingale," concerning the death of a trainee nurse; "The Black Tower," an investigation into an unusual care home; and "A Taste for Death," where a homeless pensioner and a cabinet minister are found dead in a church. The original series consists of 14 books, first published in 1962, with the last published in 2008. The series has been adapted for screen multiple times.
