The series opens a door for viewers, taking them back to the East End of London in the 1950s, where the story continues to revolve around this special group of midwives and nursing nuns. Nurse Jenny Lee and the midwives and nuns from Nonnatus House visit expectant mothers in the Poplar district, providing the best care for the poorest women. In this season, we will see Chummy, Noakes, and little Freddy return to the East End, while Sister Bernadette (now known as Shelagh after leaving the convent) prepares for her wedding to Dr. Turner. Jenny faces significant challenges in her personal life and career. During Christmas, an unexploded World War II bomb is discovered in a warehouse near Nonnatus House, leaving the nuns and dozens of local families homeless. Dr. Turner is racing against time to vaccinate children against polio, but as the disease approaches, he finds hope to be his only option. When a royal visitor comes to the East End, Chummy persuades them to open a new community center. It’s a race against time as Chummy tries to get ready for the big day. The script by Heidi Thomas is adapted from the memoirs of Jennifer Worth and has become one of the BBC's most successful dramas, leading to a continuation after two seasons. All the beloved characters from the first two seasons return, along with some new faces in the third season.
