Little Fires Everywhere is adapted from the novel of the same name by Celeste Ng. The story takes place in a small town in Ohio in the 1990s. That summer, a fire burned down the Richardson family's house. Everyone believes that it was the "doing" of Elena Richardson's (played by Reese Witherspoon) youngest daughter, Izzy, who has since disappeared... Also missing with Izzy is the Richardson family’s tenant: the wandering artist Mia (played by Kerry Washington) and her daughter. They silently challenge the truth that this family holds dear: that a stable and beautiful life must be meticulously planned. Their presence further breaks the constraints around Izzy, who realizes she can never return to her past life.
