Ben Whishaw, Russell Tovey, and Alan Cumming star in the BBC Four's new LGBT-themed drama "Queers," which consists of one season with 8 episodes, each featuring a monologue. The series is directed by Mark Gatiss, the writer of "Sherlock," and is currently in production in the UK. With collaboration from the BBC and the Old Vic Theatre, all 8 episodes, each lasting 15 minutes, will first be performed on stage in July before airing on television. The monologues, written by 8 authors including Gatiss, will showcase the lives and experiences of LGBTQ individuals over the past 100 years in British history. Ben Whishaw will play a soldier returning from the trenches in the episode "The Man on the Platform"; Russell Tovey appears as a gay actor in the 1980s in "More Anger"; and Cumming features in "Something Borrowed," which reflects on gay marriage. Other episodes will also see "Dunkirk" star Fionn Whitehead among the cast. The series is set to premiere this summer.
