Due to a letter found in a stranger's wallet, a rural youth named Ren Tsuneda (played by Kengo Kora), who works at a moving company in Tokyo, drives thousands of miles to Hokkaido and brings the despondent girl, Ne Haneda (played by Kasumi Arimura), back to Tokyo.
