In the hurried and restless city, four men and women related to music seem to encounter each other by chance. They are first violinist Maki Koyama (played by Takako Matsu), cellist Suzu Tsubaki (played by Mitsuki Takahata), violist Yutaka Iemori (played by Ikki Sawamura), and second violinist Tsukasa Beppu (played by Ryūhei Matsuda). Sharing a common aspiration for music, they form a quartet named "Donut Hole" and temporarily settle in Beppu's villa located in Karuizawa, leading an isolated life. However, the four cannot ultimately escape the mundane existence. Besides the most basic issue of eating, each person's life seems to be entangled with their own secrets. The reason for the encounter between Suzu and Maki is precisely due to Maki's husband's abrupt disappearance.
