The story takes place in the picturesque Hokkaido, where a large fire reduces a hotel to ashes. A 30-year-old woman named Setsuko Koda (played by Saki Aibu) becomes a victim of the disaster. Through police investigation, various signs at the scene indicate that this was a suicide. As the story unfolds, we discover Setsuko's tragic past. Kiichiro (played by Eiji Okuda) is Setsuko's husband; however, he once had a romantic involvement with Setsuko's mother, Ritsuko Fujishima (played by Hiromi Takigawa), which has created a tense relationship between Setsuko and Ritsuko. Masahiro Sawaki (played by Seiyuu Ozawa) is Setsuko's lover, who witnessed her in her final moments. An unexpected photograph plunges the entire incident into further mystery. Tsuzuki is the detective assigned to investigate the case, and as he peels away the layers, the truth behind the event gradually reveals itself.
