The series is adapted from the novel of the same name by Scott Turow, telling the story of a horrifying murder case in the Chicago Prosecutor's Office, in which one of the prosecutors, Rusty Sabich (Gyllenhaal), becomes a suspect. As the defendant fights to maintain his family and marriage, the story explores the powers and limitations of obsession, sex, politics, and love. Rust Negahban plays Rusty's wife, Barbara, an artist, gallery owner, and mother whose life is turned upside down after her husband is accused of murdering his mistress. She battles with a wounded heart and a broken marriage while also fighting for her family and dealing with her husband's high-profile trial.
