Starring "Steve" James Marsden from “Dead to Me,” Jury Duty is set to premiere on April 7, with four initial episodes, and the season finale on April 21. This series will be a multi-camera comedy set against the backdrop of a courtroom, blending documentary elements. It captures the inner workings of the jury trial system through the perspective of an unsuspecting juror named Ronald Gladden, who is unaware that the entire case is fake. Everyone but him is an actor, including James, and everything happening—inside and outside the courtroom—is meticulously planned. This highly confidential project was first revealed last September and promises to be a unique, genre-breaking observation of the jury’s decision-making process. It will somewhat imitate the style of Sacha Baron Cohen in “Borat” and other works (with several producers he has collaborated with also in the creative team), Nathan Fielder, and similar shows, relying on James's unscripted interactions with some actors and unpredictable predetermined outcomes to create effects. James previously filmed with a group of actors with an improv comedy background and ordinary people who were actually summoned to serve as jurors, completing filming at a real courtroom in South Los Angeles. This was accomplished during his spare time outside of his performance in “Westworld.” Other familiar actors include Evan Williams ("Luke" from “What/If”), Whitney Rice ("Mary" from “The Last Tycoon”), Edy Modica ("Xtra" from “Love Life”), Mekki Leeper ("Eric" from “College Girls”), and Kirk Fox ("Kenny" from “Reservation Dogs”).
