FX recently officially released the six-episode limited series "The Sterling Affairs," written by Gina Welch, the screenwriter of "Enemies" and "The Cleaner," featuring Laurence Fishburne from "The New Adventures of Old Christine" and "Hannibal," as well as Jacki Weaver, who received two nominations for "Animal Kingdom" and "Silver Linings Playbook." The story revolves around Donald Sterling, the former owner of the Los Angeles Clippers, who purchased the team for $12.5 million in 1981 but struggled with poor performance. What truly made Donald "widely known" was the racial discrimination scandal that erupted in 2014. During an argument with his Latina girlfriend in September 2013, he made inflammatory remarks after expressing his displeasure over her posting a photo with Magic Johnson, claiming, "I support black people, I provide their salaries, everything they have is given by me." The conversation, once public, caused a sensation and sparked protests. Ultimately, Donald was banned for life, fined $2.5 million by the league, and expelled from the Clippers, which were subsequently sold to another owner. Additionally, Donald had several extramarital affairs and engaged in a nearly sixty-year tug-of-war with his wife Shelly Sterling, eventually seeking a divorce. In this series, Jacki will play Shelly, while Laurence will portray Doc Rivers, another key figure in the Clippers, who joined in 1991 and helped them reach the playoffs, continuing to coach from 2013 to 2020. Under the shadow of the racial scandal, Doc led the team to fulfill his contract.
