This series is adapted from the novel of the same name by Scott Turow, telling the story of a horrifying murder case in the Chicago Prosecutor's Office, where one of the prosecutors, Rusty Sabich (Gyllenhaal), becomes a suspect. As the defendant struggles to maintain his family and marriage, the exploration of obsession, sex, politics, and the power and limitations of love unfolds. Rusty’s wife, Barbara, played by Negahban, is an artist, gallery owner, and mother whose life is upended after her husband is accused of murdering his mistress. She fights for her family while dealing with a broken heart and a crumbling marriage, and grapples with the widely publicized trial of her husband.
