Amelia Sachs is about to marry into one of the wealthiest families on Nantucket Island. Her future mother-in-law is the famous novelist Greer Garrison Winbury, who has her doubts about the marriage but is nonetheless spending lavishly to plan the season's most elaborate wedding — until a body washes up on the beach.
