In an effort to undermine the harmonious unity between the Communist People's Liberation Army and the local big landlord and border residents, Nationalist Party spy Bai Tingshuang disguised himself as a member of the PLA horse caravan to kill the Hani chieftain Pu Li's servant who was sent to fetch his daughter Ruo Duo, and infiltrated the horse caravan. After a failed ambush attempt on the caravan, Bai Tingshuang orchestrated the kidnapping and murder of Ruo Duo, framing the PLA for the crime. Devastated, Pu Li ordered the detention of PLA members Huang Minggao, Han Xin, and others, preparing to execute them publicly. PLA Captain Zhang led his troops to rescue them, but they were surrounded by the local Hani people who were alerted. In a critical moment, Han Xin volunteered to persuade the Hani people, but tragically was shot dead by a hidden gunman. Taking advantage of the standoff between the PLA and the chieftain's mansion, the bandit forces intercepted the horse caravan's supplies. At a key moment, the PLA troops launched a pincer movement and reclaimed the stolen supplies, tracing back to the bandit lair and eliminating it. Ultimately, the horse caravan reached its destination, with various minority compatriots arriving to purchase goods, creating a festive atmosphere akin to a Miao festival.
